Today's Bangladesh cricket based on Koko's initiative: Aminul
On the occasion of the 57th birth anniversary of Arafat Rahman Koko, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque announced the inauguration of the head office of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Krira Dal after a prayer and discussion meeting on Wednesday.
The function was organised under the chairmanship of the convener of the Jatiotabadi Krira Dal, Niaz Morshed. The event was attended by the party's member secretary and director (sports) of the National Sports Council, Zahed Parvez Chowdhury. Former director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Mahbub Anam, and senior joint convener of the Jatiotabadi Krira Dal Mainul Haque Main, were present as special guests.
The speakers at the discussion meeting recalled Arafat Rahman Koko's contribution as a cricket organiser. Although he was the son of a political family, Koko's main interest was cricket. The speakers highlighted his role in developing the country's cricket infrastructure, creating a platform for producing talented cricketers, and cricket diplomacy.
State Minister Aminul Haque said that today's Bangladesh cricket in Bangladesh is moving forward based on the various initiatives taken by Coco. It was on his initiative that the 'Home of Cricket' was established in Mirpur and activities like the academy and HP unit were started to produce cricketers.
He said, 'Our today's cricket is based on the steps he took. Good cricketers have been produced because of the steps he took.'
Praising Coco's cricketing ideas, Aminul Haque further said, 'Although he was born in a political family, he was not even close to politics. Cricket was his meditation and knowledge. He took various initiatives for cricket and made a great contribution.'
The State Minister for Youth and Sports also highlighted Koko's role in the development of the country's cricket through foreign coaches and trainers. He said that Coco took the initiative to improve the quality of the country's cricket by bringing foreign coaches through sports diplomacy.
Speakers at the event said that Arafat Rahman Koko's contribution to the infrastructure of Bangladesh's cricket and the process of producing players will be remembered for a long time. The various initiatives he took as a cricket organizer played an important role in advancing the country's cricket to the next level.
