Md. Mostafizur Rahman, an Endurance Sports Coach, Triathlete and Swimmer from Bangladesh, completed the DATEV Challenge Roth 2026, one of the world's most prestigious full-distance triathlons held in Germany recently.

Born in the southern district of Pirojpur, this athlete has been representing Bangladesh in the international arena for a long time.

Challenge Roth is a dream competition for triathletes around the world. Every year, the world's best professional and age-group triathletes participate in it. Getting a chance to participate in this competition is also very difficult. All the slots are filled within just 60 seconds of the start of registration. About 3,000 triathletes got the opportunity to participate in the 2026 edition. About 5,500 volunteers from different countries around the world work to organize the competition and about 3 lakh spectators are present on the race course to cheer on the athletes.

Mostafizur Rahman was the only participant from Bangladesh in this edition. In addition, in the long history of Challenge Roth, only two athletes from Bangladesh have had the opportunity to participate in this competition so far.

In a full-distance triathlon, an athlete has to complete a 3.8-kilometer swim, 180-kilometer cycle, and 42.2-kilometer marathon in a row. Only if an athlete can complete the entire race within the specified cut-off time is an athlete recognized as an official Challenge Roth Finisher. Crossing the finish line carrying the red-green flag of Bangladesh on the same stage with the best triathletes in the world was a dream come true for Mostafizur Rahman.

Earlier, he successfully completed the IRONMAN 70.3 and qualified for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship through that performance. Later, he represented Bangladesh in the World Championship as well. He also achieved the honor of becoming the first Bangladeshi finisher in the Fishtail Race in Nepal.

Not only in triathlon, but also in open water swimming, he has had notable successes. He has successfully completed the 16.1-kilometer Bangla Channel (Teknaf-St. Martin's) swim. He has also regularly participated in long-distance open water swimming competitions held in various rivers of the country. He achieved Oceanman Master Swimmer recognition by participating in the Oceanman competition held in Thailand this year.

Along with sports, he is also working out of a sense of social responsibility. He has personally taught swimming to about 300 underprivileged children for free to reduce the drowning death rate in Bangladesh, so that they can save their lives by learning to swim.

About his future goals, Mostafizur Rahman said, "My dream is not only to participate in international competitions, but to raise the flag of Bangladesh more in the world's most prestigious endurance events. At the same time, I want to play a role in reducing the drowning death rate by teaching swimming. One of my biggest dreams in the future is to cross the English Channel with the flag of Bangladesh."
