Boat race held at Nawab Bari's pond after 35 years
A boat race competition was held at Nawab Bari's Pond in Islampur, Old Dhaka. There was a festive atmosphere among the local residents as the boat race was held there after almost three and a half decades. A fair was held around the pond surrounding the boat race.
The boat race competition was organised by the Nawab Bari's Angling and Pond Management Committee on Friday (August 7). Ishraq Hossain was present as the chief guest at the event. Dhaka-7 MP Hamidur Rahman Hamid and other area leaders were present at the event.
At the event, he called for organizing more such events to maintain the tradition of Nababbari.
Ishraq Hossain said, ‘I am very happy to be present at the final stage of today’s boat race event organized after 35 years. I enjoyed today’s beautiful event.’
He said, ‘I am a child of your area, your MP. This Nawabbari area is a very traditional area and I am proud to be the MP of this area. The tradition of Nawabbari makes us all proud.’
He also said, ‘You will maintain this tradition and organize more such events, more traditional programs to take your tradition forward. I will support you in every way.’
Regarding Dhaka-7 MP Hamidur Rahman Hamid, Ishraq Hossain said, ‘Our Dhaka-7 MP Hamidur Rahman Hamid is always by your side. We are both with you. Together we will work in the future to further flourish the tradition.’
