Along with building a drug-free and healthy society through sports, the government is working to explore the talents of teenagers from the grassroots level, said State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque.

He said that the government is working to establish sports not only as entertainment but also as a profession. Through this, it is possible to keep the young generation away from drugs and various social degradation.

Md. Aminul Haque said these things at the award distribution ceremony of the final game of the Jhenaidah Zilla Parishad Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026 at Bir Shrestha Hamidur Rahman Stadium in Jhenaidah on Saturday afternoon.

Aminul Haque said, "We want to build a healthy nation and drug-free society through sports. We want to bring back our ethics and social values ​​through this sport." He called on everyone, regardless of party or opinion, to work together to implement this goal.

Highlighting the plan to create players from the grassroots level, the State Minister for Youth and Sports said that work is underway to establish sports as a profession and explore the talents of teenagers. Activities have also been started to build a playground in each of the 4,599 unions of the country.

He also announced the development of sports infrastructure in Jhenaidah at the event.

Aminul Haque said that initiatives have been taken to build sports villages in 10 districts of the country in the current fiscal year. There is a plan to build one of them in Jhenaidah. In addition, the current stadium in the district will be transformed into a modern stadium with a full-fledged gallery.

Regarding the demand for construction of a swimming pool in Jhenaidah, he said that currently there are 22 swimming pools in 22 districts of the country. There is a plan to build one swimming pool in each of the 64 districts in phases. Under that plan, initiatives will be taken to build a swimming pool in Jhenaidah as well.

Aminul Haque also said that according to the government's election manifesto, there is a plan to build sports villages with international facilities including indoor stadiums in 64 districts of the country. In the first phase, 10 sports villages will be built in the current fiscal year.

The program was addressed by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman, Prime Minister's Political Assistant Md. Rashed Khan and Jhenaidah District BNP General Secretary Md. Zahiduzzaman Mona. The program was presided over by Jhenaidah District Council Administrator and District BNP President Md. Abdul Majid.
