State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque said that sports are no longer just a means of entertainment; the government is working to establish sports as a profession. Congratulating the medal-winning athletes at the national and district-upazila levels, he said that talented players will be selected and trained at the Bangladesh Sports Education Institute (BKSP) and the government will bear the expenses of their education and sports.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting with district sports organizers, sports personalities and dignitaries at the Habiganj District Shilpakala Academy on Saturday.

Whip of the National Parliament Md. G. K. Gaus MP was present as the guest of honour.

The State Minister said that the first edition of the Notun Kuri Sports program for teenagers aged 10 to 14 has already been completed and the online registration process for the second edition is underway. There are plans to organize the second edition in the third week of October. By involving the new generation in sports, it is possible to build a healthy nation and keep them away from drug and technology addiction. Initiatives have been taken to build a playground in each of the 4,599 unions of the country. At the same time, initiatives have been taken to make the divisional level BKSPs self-sufficient, so that talented teenagers from remote areas get the opportunity for advanced training and education from their own areas. Initiatives have also been taken to build the 'Arafat Rahman National Para Sports Village' on about 20 acres of land in Bogra for athletes with special needs.

The State Minister for Youth and Sports further said that there is a plan to establish 10 sports villages on priority basis in the 64 districts of the country. As part of this, activities will be started to build a sports village in Habiganj. He said that it is possible to build a drug-free and humane society by developing discipline, patience, tolerance and mindfulness among children and adolescents through sports. He called on everyone to come forward to build a prosperous, peaceful and humane Bangladesh by creating a healthy and tolerant social environment, keeping all forms of revenge and division away.
