The main draw of the 36th Bangladesh World Tennis Tour Junior J-30 tournament kicked off on Tuesday at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna. No Bangladeshi player managed to secure a victory on the opening day.
Local tennis stars failed to put up significant resistance against the impressive performances of foreign players and the highly competitive atmosphere.
The start was far from ideal for the players representing Bangladesh.
In a girls' singles match on Court 1, host player Sara Al Jasim faced China's Zimo Song, suffering a straight-set defeat of 6-0, 6-0. Jannatun Ferdous met the same fate on Court 3, losing 6-1, 6-0 to China's Zijiu. Additionally, in another girls' singles match on Court 5, Humaira Haider was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Chinese opponent Ziru Yang.
The scenario was similar for the hosts in the boys' singles events. On Court 3, Kabya Gayen faced India's Sankalp Kumar Sahani and lost 6-3, 6-4. Meanwhile, on Court 7, India's Shahbaz Singh Sanghera received a walkover against Bangladesh's Md. Rakin Rahman.
Elsewhere in the boys' singles, the tournament's top seed, Trisha Srisen of Thailand, defeated India's Arsh Wake 6-4, 6-4; India's Saksham Bhansali beat China's Rongbin Dai 6-0, 6-2; and China's Tianyi Fang defeated Singapore's Andre Harnadiwe 6-1, 6-4, all securing their spots in the next round. In the first round of the girls' singles, China's Shuyang Xu defeated Australia's Ayla Hasan 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4.
