Bangladesh will take on Singapore in their second Group A match of the ongoing FIFA ASEAN Cup at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia on Monday.

Bangladesh began their FIFA ASEAN Cup campaign on a losing note as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Malaysia in their opening Group A match on Friday at the same venue.

Ranked 136th in the FIFA rankings, Malaysia dominated from the outset with quick, attacking football, while 181st-ranked Bangladesh, making their tournament debut, struggled to maintain their shape and created meaningful chances.

Bangladesh created only a handful of chances throughout the match but failed to capitalize on them.

There were no further goals as Thomas Dooley's charges left the field empty handed at the final whistle.

Earlier, Bangladesh coach Thomas Dooley handed the captain's armband to midfielder Sohel Rana (Sr), leaving regular captain Jamal Bhuyan out of the starting XI.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh national football team underwent a recovery session on Saturday morning. Based on GPRS data, nine players from the starting XI participated in a gym session under the guidance of fitness trainer Raphael.

In the afternoon, 14 players trained at the GBK A Training Field under head coach Thomas Dooley; this group included Farhan Ali Wahid and Fahamidul Islam, who had been part of the starting lineup against Malaysia.

The session was light, focusing on stretching, fitness, and ball passing, and concluded with a technical session involving a small-sided game where the squad was split into two teams.

Bangladesh have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Bangladesh will end the group stage on October 1 against the host Indonesia in Jakarta.

Group B consists of ASEAN Championship finalists Thailand and Vietnam, alongside the Philippines and Pakistan.

All three matches will be played at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
