The government aims to mold the new generation into healthy, drug-free, and disciplined individuals by making sports an integral part of education alongside academics. To this end, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque announced that a new textbook titled 'Sports' (Kheladhula) will be introduced in the Class 4 curriculum starting next academic year.

He made these remarks on Friday afternoon while speaking as the chief guest at a reception ceremony held at Mirpur Bangla School and College in the capital. The event honored meritorious students from various educational institutions in the Dhaka-16 constituency who achieved GPA-5 in their SSC and HSC examinations.

Addressing the students, he emphasized the need to set life goals early on, noting that there is no alternative to academic study in achieving those goals. However, he added that sports are equally important for building a healthy body and a healthy nation. Through the new textbook, students will learn about the benefits of sports, nutrition, and the dietary habits necessary for maintaining good health.

The State Minister also highlighted initiatives to develop educational institutions and provide housing facilities for teachers. He mentioned that he has already issued 'DO letters' (official recommendation letters) for the development of educational institutions in Pallabi and Rupnagar. He stated that he would consult with the Education Minister and, if necessary, submit a proposal to the Prime Minister to arrange separate housing for teachers.

Urging everyone to shun political vendetta and build a united, humane Bangladesh, Aminul Haque said they do not want a repeat of the history of the past 17 years. He stressed that teachers, guardians, the government, and society at large must play a responsible role in ensuring a healthy environment for students.

Presided over by Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Khoshnabish, Principal of Mirpur Bangla School and College, the event was attended by Moinul Haque Moin, President of the Dhaka-16 Constituency Educational Institutions Board; Hafizur Rahman Sarkar, President of MDC Model School and College; and representatives from various other educational institutions. Aminul Haque handed over awards to the meritorious students during the ceremony.
